Howdy! Here's some of the work I've been doing my second semester at IU. At the beginning of the year, I started a series that would highlight the relationship between Sean and myself. There are the superficial differences like my interest in loud color/pattern in opposition to his grey, neutral and utilitarian world, as well as little personality clashes. It's all tongue in cheek of course, and something of an excuse to teach myself about my prior (misunderstood) enemies of greys and flat color.
Not a finished painting!!!
I did a few other things, too, just to shake it up.
The Dream Pets are my babies! I just began this, really.
Just a 'dancin' with monsters' good time.
After a while, I started to work on another body of work. I've been thinking about Zeitgeists and how I can personify certain eras. And if I can personify something, why can't I take the term itself at face value? Again, the work is a bit tongue in cheek as should be apparent by the 'time ghosts' haunting their contemporaries and vice versa. I've only begun these two paintings recently and neither are anywhere near done right now.

Let's start off with a bang, eh?
It's been a fairly unproductive summer so far in the 'making real art' department. I've entered that loop of 'man, I'm really poor and I need money so I better do a lot of sellable paintings' which aren't selling which in turn makes me poorer which in turn makes me feel the need to produce more sellable paintings... heavens to betsies!
Regardless! A happy art patron reminded me I can make paintings that aren't necessarily of droolingly lovable pups. So, I'm starting my blog (this will take some time to get used to) off with a few of these fellas circa the last 3 days.
